Week 39 August 21, 2013

The poor critter doesn't look very good. It is summer time so he is shedding real bad as evident by the skin on the bottom of the bottle. His ears and claws are still visible. Looks like he has a terrible stomach ache from too much Mt. Dew. I wouldn't say that he "gelatinous goo" but he doesn't look very good. It's about time we opened the bottle and let him go. We'll film him as he tries to escape.

Week 16, March 23, 2013

The mouse has been in the bottle for about 16 weeks.  Most of the last 10 weeks has been between 38 and 45 degrees F.  Things don't decompose very much at that temperature.  However, things are happening.  As you can see from the picture, there is fuzz all over his whiskers.  Initially his whole body was covered but when I picked up the bottle take a picture, all of the fuzz fell off and settled to the bottom.

His eye is still visble but isn't as glassy as it used to be.  His teeth are gone.  His toe nails are a nice white and the tips are very slender and pointed.  The most interesting things is that he is no longer bloated.  When I opened the bottle a few months ago to let off some pressure, he expanded like a balloon.  He is now extremely slender.  The wound where the trap caught him has opened up and it appears he is disolving on the inside.  His fur, legs, tail and everything else still looks like they are in good shape.

Week 6 January 4, 2013

Temperature has dropped to 37 F.  The eye still looks completely intact.  No real change.

Week 5 December 28 2012

Not much has happened.  It looks like his teeth are starting to discolor.  Unfortunately, the temperature has dropped to 45 F so that is going to slow down the decomposition.  The blog won't let me add a picture right now, so it will have to wait.
